Le Poème

I fell in love with you years ago
Before I even got to meet you.
But now, should I forget about you ?
In my head and heart these thoughts tango…

I always thought we were meant to be.
You and me, us forever happy.
Today I wonder if you are the one
Because I am tired of asking when.

When will I finally be with you ?
When will I feel important to you ?
Will you ever be ready for me ?
Will you ever want to come to me ?

Right now I don’t like the way I feel.
I pray that my heart turns to steel
Before you padlock me out of yours.
Yet I wish to be forever yours.

How do we know when love is worth it ?
Do we ever get through all that pain ?
How do we pretend the sky is lit ?
When do we forgive and try again ?
